"The Coaster" Week ending July 14, 2013
We are really excited about Men’s Breakfast Saturday from 7am-9am. There is still time to sign up if you are interested. The breakfast and fellowship are going to be great. Corn Hole tournament. Please let me know if you are still interested in being a part of this great time.
Our Family Fun Nights have been awesome. I encourage you to come out next Wednesday from 5-7pm.
Ownership Class: We are transitioning from membership to ownership because “members have rights but owners have responsibilities.” We are going to look at our responsibility to God’s Church. July 21st from 4-6pm we will have Ownership Class. Remember that this is completely new and even if you have been an attender (or member) of SouthCoast for a while you do not want to miss this class!
Cookout at the Bush’s: On July 28th, immediately following the service we will be having our annual cookout. Join us for food, fellowship, swimming, and games! Please bring a side dish or dessert to share.
We have some financial needs at SouthCoast that I just wanted you to be aware of and if God leads you to give to one of these areas please let me know:
o We have a fairly large benevolent need RIGHT now. Families in need.
o Two of our ministry partners: 1) Rich and Megan Harrell in Lesotho, Africa. Our Vacation Bible School took up an offering for this and raised some but we need to add to it to fulfill the need. 2) Rus and Jen Willette of the Navigators have a need for a piece of equipment to better their ministry on campus. Rus has asked us to be in prayer about this need.
o We need to make some improvements in our sound equipment. The Worship Team is doing a lot to “make things work” right now but it is getting harder and harder.
o Finally, the deacons and I were talking last night about something that we just wanted to put out there for you. We could have A/C in the sanctuary for $2500. We have been thinking for a while that it was going to be $10,000. If this is something that you feel is important and God would lead you to a gift for this, please let me know.
Below is an announcement from Ken Smith (Deacon Chair):
Garret and Amy Lewellen have tendered their resignations from the deacon ministry. While they will continue in the children’s work, they are seeking to explore other areas of God’s call in their lives. Their wisdom and counsel will be missed. I know that they covet your prayers and encouragement at this time.
Moreover, we are asking for prayer as the church seeks to find servants to fill these vacancies. We will revisit our most recent nominations and will be asking for additional input from you. If you have questions about this process, feel free to contact me of Pastor Travis.
I can't wait for Sunday to worship with you guys! See you soon and BLESSINGS!
Pastor, SouthCoast Community Church
