Hola! Wow is all that I can say so far and we really have not even begun with what we are here to do! I would love to give you an overview of what has happened so far: Friday: I left the house at 1:30am with my dad to catch a bus in Portsmouth, NH that took me to Boston for a 5:30am flight. Made it and landed in Miami 20 minutes early and met up with some of the team. Dwayne, our head mechanic and my room mate, was there (more about him in a bit). Flew out at 10:30 and landed in the Dominican shortly after noon but it was after one here because we are an hour ahead. Got through all of the necessary things in the airport and boarded a bus to the hotel. After some rest and getting to know Dwayne we headed out to dinner with the rest of the team (which was awesome) and then headed back to the hotel to begin our training! Saturday: After some much needed sleep, we gathered Saturday morning to head out for a little sightseeing and "shopping". This was very educational as we got to know the culture very well. In addition, the team chemistry went through the roof and after today I can tell that it will be very important! From shopping we went to dinner at a great local place and had a Dominican dinner. VERY GOOD! Sunday: CHURCH! It was amazing! I felt like I was able to get a taste of Heaven hearing the service in Spanish! The service went about 2 hours but didn't feel that long at all! After lunch we headed back to set up the church for the outreach. We unpacked supplies, moved chairs, and set up tables. Then we went behind the church to a storage area where we found 2 rooms FULL of wheelchairs stacked on top of wheelchairs that were all shrink-wrapped. We unwrapped every one and took them in to be distributed. Once we were mostly set up we gathered for the rest of our training, headed back for dinner, and headed to bed to rest up for the week. One thing (like there is just one) that really gripped me today was all of the volunteers from the church that came to help! I was overwhelmed by how much they cared and wanted to be involved. I am also so grateful for the opportunity to connect with the team over the last couple of days. The next 5 days are going to be full of hard work. We will be seeing "patients" from 9am-6pm and at the end of the day will be beat so the time that we have had is so valuable and will help us through. Great relationships that I would love to tell you about and hope to in coming blogs. Thank you for your prayers! I have already seen God move in might ways! One example for me personally is Dwayne. I mentioned that we are rooming together but the bond that has formed between us is just awesome. We have known each other for a long time but have never had an opportunity like this to connect and he is an amazing man of God! I am so thankful for the encouragement and blessing that he has been and is to this outreach as this is his 7th time here. What an answer to prayer! So, pray for our team over the next few days! I will be back to post an update later on this week! Blessings! ~PT Now all I am I lay at Your feet I'm humbled by the wonder of Your majesty One thing I know I find all I need In Your unending love ~"Unending Love" by Hillsong...
